CPES PROMOTES WORKSHOP ON “TROPICAL FORESTS, TIPPING POINTS AND SOCIAL COST OF DEFORESTATION”

The Centre for Research on Insurance Economics (CPES) promoted on Wednesday, April 25, a workshop on tropical forests, critical points and the social cost of deforestation. The speaker Sergio Franklin and the guests Claudio Contador, Lauro Faria, Natalia Oliveira, Caroline Rodrigues, Jose Luiz de Carvalho, Maria Elena Bidino, Natalie Hurtado, Cesar Neves, Eduardo Fraga and Renato Flores debated on an alternative framework for calculating the economic value of a standing rain forest, as well as to explore the implications of the forest-savannah transition for the conception of a land use policy and payments for ecosystem services.
